Un dels primers reptes de l'inici de curs en el grau de Disseny Gràfic, i des de la perspectiva adoptada al mòdul de llenguatges del disseny i aplicacions, consisteix a comprendre els límits de la representació visual en base als límits de la realitat, que no són altres que els límits de les nostres capacitats perceptives i sensorials. Quan aquests es trenquen entrem als terrenys de la sinestèsia, un territori intersensorial que ens convida a veure sons, olorar imatges i sentir aromes. Es tracta de comprendre fins a quin punt la nostra cultura i la nostra comunicació són gairebé exclusivament audiovisuals i oblidem massa sovint com de limitat és el nostre vocabulari intersensorial. Per comprendre millor les possibilitats creatives i didàctiques del trencament de barreres entre els sentits, proposem als nostres alumnes un intent d'indagar entre conceptes comuns als nostres diferents sentits, com a fons, figura, textura, composició, equilibri, tonalitat...i ho fem desafiament a interpretar un arxiu sonor visualment, amb un esperit experimental. No es tracta de crear imatges que evoquin el que creieu-vos reconèixer a través del so, sinó de donar-li forma visual al propi so, representar la seva forma en un suport sensorial diferent, o almenys intentar evocar-lo. Els resultats sempre són interessants i el procés mai no deixa de ser enriquidor.
